Hey Reader, The countdown is almost over—Spotlighters Show Choir Camp begins on Monday! We’re so glad your family is part of it—and we can’t wait to see [NAMES_OF_CAMPERS GOES HERE] shine on stage.
This is the BIG informational email we promised. It’s packed with all the key details to help your week go smoothly, including a few important updates and changes for this year. Even if you’ve been part of Spotlighters before, please take a moment to read everything carefully and plan accordingly.
LoCATION
📍Camp Location: Norton Auditorium at the University of North Alabama, 500 N Pine St, Florence, AL 35630.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: DROP-OFFS
Monday Arrival Time: 8:20 AM – 8:50 AM
Tuesday – Friday Arrival Time: 8:30 AM – 8:50 AM
We ask that you do not drop your child off before the times listed above.
Camp begins daily at 9 AM. On the first day of camp, please park and walk your child in. Our staff will be ready to greet you. Your child’s counselor will confirm your approved pre-registered drivers for the week as well. For subsequent mornings, you can either follow the drop-off line for assistance or park and walk your camper inside.
DAILY DRESS CODE
Campers should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for singing, dancing, and active movement throughout the day.
Please remember that our campers are photographed and filmed throughout the week for social media, promotional materials, and our finale video. We ask campers to wear clothing that provides appropriate coverage and is suitable for both the stage and camera.
Please avoid:
Clothing that reveals the stomach or midriff
Sagging pants or shorts
Excessively tight clothing
Shorts that are excessively short
Closed-toe athletic shoes are required. No Crocs, sandals, or flip-flops.
Our goal is for every camper to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to shine all week long.
“SPOTLIGHT ON” SERIES AND PICK UPS
“Spotlight On” is a special part of the first four days at Spotlighters Camp where one or more teams will perform for family and friends at the end of the day. It’s a fun and informal preview of what our campers are learning. We also make announcements and this is a great way to connect with their counselors before the day ends.
The performing team will be chosen each morning through a fun all-camp game—so there’s no set schedule of who performs when. That means every team should be ready to shine each day, and parents are encouraged to come as often as they can!
We ask that all parents plan to arrive by 3:30 PM each day. “Spotlight On” will begin shortly after, and we’ll wrap up by 4:00 PM. We do not provide childcare after 4:00 PM, so please make sure your camper is picked up promptly.
Approved adults will need to sign out any camper who is a rising 8th grader or younger with their counselor before leaving.
LUNCH
All campers will need to bring a packed lunch on Monday through Thursday. We will serve pizza to all campers and staff on Friday!
Please send your camper with a clearly labeled lunch box each morning at check-in. Be sure their name and grade are marked on the outside. For safety and efficiency, we’re not able to accommodate food drop-offs of any kind during the day.
Lunch Times:
1st–4th Graders eat from 11:00–11:30 AM
5th–12th Graders eat from 11:30–12:00 PM
Spotlighters will provide afternoon snacks to help campers stay energized throughout the day. If your child has a reported allergy, we’ve made note of it and will plan accordingly.
What to bring TO CAMP
Water bottle to stay hydrated. Please label it with your camper’s name.
Closed-Toe Shoes – No Crocs / No Sandals / No Flip-Flops We are doing a lot of fun choreography. Your camper needs shoes that they can move in.
ZERO ABSENCE POLICY / No Late Arrivals / NO Early Check OUts
We cover a lot of music and choreography in 5 days to put on our final Spotlighters performance by Friday night, so attendance is crucial. Please plan to send your child for the full day. It’s imperative that your camper feels confident going into the weekend of shows. While we understand that conflicts come up, your child must attend all 5 days in order to appear on stage during our finale performances. This policy was notated in the waivers signed by parents during registration.
Campers who are eligible to perform are expected to participate in both final performances.
WhAT DOES MY SPOTLIGHTER WEAR TO THE PERFORMANCES?
Each camper will receive their official Spotlighters performance t-shirt on Friday to take home and wear for both the Friday night and Saturday matinee performances. The shirt is included with tuition and is theirs to keep.
All campers must wear black shorts with their performance shirt. Athletic shorts are perfectly fine—as long as they are an appropriate length for being on stage. Tennis shoes are required, but we’re not picky about the color—whatever sneakers your camper already has is great.
To make things easier, we’re including [this Amazon link] as an example. You’re not required to purchase this specific pair—it’s simply a helpful reference.
Finale Performances – Friday, JUNE 19 & Saturday, JuNE 20
Friday we will dismiss at 4:00 PM. Please note there will be no “Spotlight On” session Friday afternoon.
All dress rehearsals are closed to family and guests.
Campers will go home at 4:00 PM and should return to Norton between 6:00 and 6:15 PM dressed and ready for the 7:00 PM performance.
On Saturday, there are no regular camp activities. Please arrive between 1:00 and 1:15 PM for the 2:00 PM matinee.

TICKETS TO THE FINALE PERFORMANCES
All tickets are reserved seating, and each camper registration includes two complimentary tickets.
The adult who registered your camper should have received an email on May 18 with a unique coupon code to redeem those comp tickets. If you haven’t used it yet, please do so soon.
Ticket sales are already strong. We are expecting full houses for both shows—do not wait to purchase additional tickets. All sales final. No refunds.
Trenton Goad from Pipeline Media will film the entire show on Friday evening. A multi-camera recording of the performance is included in your tuition. This recording will be delivered digitally at a later date.
